SCRATCH WITH

Volunteer Call Out – Cairns Scratch Up

Cairns Regional Council are inviting the young people of Cairns to create and animate a unique story about themselves using SCRATCH, the web-based coding and animation software. The finished animations will be on display at the Cairns Court House from 14 – 24 December, where children and families will also have the opportunity to create and share stories and animations. We are looking for volunteers to assist enthusiastic coders and animators to create their SCRATCH videos. As part of this, James Collins will provide a 1 hour training session.

Cairns Scratch Up – Storyboarding Workshop

Learn the basics of visual storytelling through storyboarding. This introduction will guide you through the very basics of effectively translating a story into a comprehensive visual story, mapping out scenes, characters and costumes in a way that can then be created into a Scratch animated story. This session will run for 1 hour and provide you with the knowledge and resources around guiding children through the process or storyboarding their ideas and where they can go to get further support using the Scratch software and converting their storyboard to a Scratch animation at home.

We are seeking volunteers for the following times:

Tuesday 14 – Saturday 18 December, 10am – 4pm
Tuesday 21 – Friday 24 December 10am-4pm
